Welcome Home Event for All Veterans
                                                                          12th year anniversary

VA Western New York Healthcare System will host its annual welcome home event and memorial ceremony on Saturday, August 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event, held for the 12th time since 2004, will take place at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park, One Naval Park Cove, Buffalo, New York.
A memorial ceremony will be held at noon with reading of the names of local service members who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country during post 9/11 conflicts.
Open to all Veterans and their families, the event includes benefits counselors representing VA health care and other Veterans benefits as well as community agency representatives who will be on hand with information on health, vocational, employment, educational opportunities and more. Veterans will have the opportunity to enroll in VA health care and also receive information about Veterans benefits, to include cemeteries.
A car cruise, tours of the naval ships, along with light refreshments and activities for children will also be offered at the event.
“We have grown bigger and better every year, with almost 4,000 participants last year,” said Kathy Smythe, Program Manager Transition Care Team. “With the support of our Vietnam Veteran volunteers, the Pathfinders partnering with VA and the community helps us to reach Veterans and connect them to health care and other services.”
Please show a VA or Military ID card for free entry into the Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park. Admission fees have been graciously donated by VA Western New York Pathfinders. For more information, please call (716) 862-7344.
