Veterans “Stand Down” –Resources for All Veterans in Niagara County

Reminiscent of safe-havens for soldiers in the Vietnam War, a Veterans “Stand Down” will be held in Niagara County on Thursday, December 6 from 10 a.m. to

3 p.m. at the Frederick F. Cadille Post 1664, 752 E. Market Street in Niagara Falls. The

Stand Down will link and provide Veterans services and program information at one

convenient location.

This event will connect homeless and Veterans at risk of being homeless with information and services including immediate housing, legal advice and services, VA health care and other Veterans benefits information, education and employment opportunities, free haircuts, social and family services and more. Often, Veterans do not realize they are at risk of being homeless if they live paycheck to paycheck. Bring your DD-214 discharge papers or military ID.

“We are very excited to bring the Stand Down back to Niagara County,” said Kristen Weese, LCSW, VA Health Care for Homeless Veterans Program Manager. “We partnered with the Cadille Post in 2008 bringing providers from the community and Veterans Affairs together in one place to help Veterans who may be looking for assistance or resources.”

Lunch will be provided by UAW Region 9 Veterans Council. Community partners sponsoring this event include VA Western New York Healthcare System, The Veterans One-stop Center (VOC) of Western New York, VA Health Care for Homeless Veterans Program.
