Veterans Participate in Summer Creative Arts Festival

VA Western New York Healthcare System Recreation Therapy will host the Summer Creative Arts Festival on Thursday, August 8, 2019. This event is unique to the facility as it showcases Veterans, employees and volunteers’ artistic talents.  The event will take place at the Buffalo site, located at 3495 Bailey Avenue from 11am to 2pm in Room 301, Freedom Hall.

Contestants submitted entries in visual arts division categories such as oil painting and leatherwork and performing arts categories such as music, drama, dance, comedy, and creative writing.

VA medical facilities hold local competitions across the nation as part of their respective Recreation Therapy programs. The National Veterans Creative Arts competition recognizes progress and personal recovery made through recreation therapy and raises the visibility of the creative achievements of our nation’s Veterans after disease, disability, or life crisis.

Winners in each of the categories of the local recreation therapy programs will go on to the 2019 National Veterans Creative Arts Festival level of competition this fall in Battle Creek, Michigan. For more information on this festival or other VA Recreation Therapy programs, please call Pamela Kaznowski at 716-862-6814.
