VA Western New York Healthcare System Celebrates "Go Red for Women"

To improve awareness of women and heart disease, VA Western New York Healthcare System is encouraging everyone to wear red on Friday, February 7. "Go Red for Women" will take place at the Buffalo VA Medical Center, 3495 Bailey Avenue, with educational and fun activities throughout the day.

From 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., educational literature and red bracelets will be distributed to Veterans, employees and visitors in the lobby on the first floor. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Freedom Hall, Mistress of Ceremonies Tiffany Lundberg from WKBW will kick off the event with heart attack survivor stories, Go Red for Women Lego Movie and a Red Hat Parade. Departments from the medical center have a chance to decorate a red baseball hat to illustrate “How can we prevent Heart Disease.” Each hat will be judged by representatives from VA leadership and American Heart Association.

Everyone is invited to attend the events, which are sponsored by VA Western New York Healthcare System’s Minority Veterans Program Committee, Women Veterans Health Committee and African American Special Emphasis Program Committee.
