VA Western NY Healthcare System to Hold Caregiver Support Resource Fair

Caregivers provide valuable services to Veterans by assisting them with accessing the health care system, providing emotional and physical support and allowing Veterans to choose to stay in their home over institutional care. VA Western New York Healthcare System will celebrate National Family Caregivers Month with its annual Caregiver Support Resource Fair on Friday, November 22 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Freedom Hall at the Buffalo VA Medical Center, 3495 Bailey Avenue, Buffalo.


The caregiver fair is an opportunity to obtain information about community and VA resources to help caregivers, including hospice and palliative care, dementia care services, long term care and home care, respite services, and home-based medical programs, case management, companion services, support and education.


Community partners and VA staff will be in the available to provide information on resources for caregivers. All Veterans, caregivers, and VA employees and volunteers are welcome to attend. Community participants include:

VA support programs may include Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) Centers, Home-Based Primary Care, Skilled Home Care, Homemaker and Home Health Aide Program, Home Telehealth, Respite Care and Home Hospice Care. “We appreciate all of our caregivers and we want to offer them as much knowledge and as many resources as possible,” said Mary Skibinski, VA Western New York Healthcare System Caregiver Support Coordinator.
