VA2K Walk and Roll to Support Homeless Veterans and Promote Physical Activity

VA Western New York Healthcare System will host a VA2K Walk and Roll on Wednesday,
May 18, at Buffalo and Batavia sites to encourage healthy activity while supporting homeless Veterans with donated items.

The VA2K Walk and Roll is free and open to the general public. This year’s event begins any time between 11am and 12:45pm in Veterans Park in Buffalo and at the patio in Batavia.
In the event of inclement weather, the VA2K will be held indoors.  Pre-registration is not required.

VA Western New York Healthcare System VA2K events in Buffalo and Batavia are just two of approximately 170 VA2K events taking place at other VA facilities across the country.  In conjunction with the event, donations through Voluntary Service are accepted of new clothing/undergarments or toiletries to assist homeless Veterans.  However, there is no requirement for a donation in order to participate.
“Worksite wellness activities enhance employee engagement and contribute to a more productive and healthy workforce,” said Brian Stiller, Medical Center Director.  “Our goal is to collect even more in-kind donations and involve more participants in support of wellness and homeless Veterans this year.”

The event is open to people of all fitness levels and can be done over a lunch break. Whether you team up with a coworker, a friend, or participate on your own, there’s no better time than now to step up your fitness level and help improve the lives of homeless Veterans. For additional information and more event details, please contact Shamale McMillan in Buffalo at 716-862-8803 or, or Becky Hodgins-Ball in Batavia at 585-297-1175 or
