VA Celebrates Opening of Infusion Clinic

VA Western New York Healthcare System is celebrating the renovation of the Infusion Clinic, a 3,500 square foot area on the seventh floor, A-Wing, Friday, January 16 at 10 a.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house of the area until 11:30am.

The $1.4 project includes twelve semi-private treatment pods and two private treatment rooms that open to a central nursing area for improved patient observation and ease of patient access. Subtle earth tones and ergonomic furniture add to comfort for patients and staff. A separate waiting room with a television and kitchenette adds to relaxation for family members and visitors. Patients receive infusions as part of cancer treatment, hematologic disorders, and
immunodeficiency disorders.

“This new infusion area has improved both safety and comfort for patients,” stated Lynn Steinbrenner, MD, Chief, Hematology Oncology. “The nurses are able to visualize the patients at all times. Many patients are with us for several hours and the unit is much more comfortable and patient/family friendly.”
