2018 Mental Health Summit at VA Western New York Healthcare System Bringing The Community Together to Help Veterans
Buffalo, NY —VA Western New York Healthcare System brings community providers, Veterans and their families together with VA staff, at the 2018 Mental Health Summit. The goal of the event is to identify resources available enhancing access to medical and mental health services for recently separated military members, families and Veterans enrolled in VA Health Care. Continuing Education Credit is offered at no cost to providers.
The event features presentations about trauma informed yoga practice, pain management for returning veterans, military culture, readjustment needs of transitioning Veterans and a special presentation about Complementary and Integrative Health Modalities for Veterans by Dr. Drew Helmer, Director New Jersey War Related Illness and Injury Study Center.
“Bringing together experts in the field of whole health and mental health offers greater resources for the community, VA staff and the Veterans we serve. Together this holistic approach improves the overall quality of life of Veterans,” stated Michael J. Swartz, Executive Director, VA Western New York Healthcare System.
Tours of the facility with displays of program areas will also be offered at the event.
