On March 1, 2018, VA Western New York Healthcare System’s (VA WNYHS) veterans, staff and visitors were once again treated to an outstanding art show with entries created and performed by local veteran artists. Included in this year’s festival were three stunning paintings from Charles Brown, a Vietnam-era veteran. Mr. Brown’s incredibly detailed and vividly colored painting of a tiger greatly impressed art lovers of all ages.  Category winners at this local festival will advance and compete against all first place winners across the nation for the opportunity to attend this year’s National Veterans Creative Arts Festival in Des Moines, Iowa. Last fall, VA WNYHS’s Recreation Therapy Program, along with the American Legion Auxiliary and other community partners, coordinated and hosted a highly lauded and well-attended National Veterans Creative Arts Festival in Buffalo.
