Employees from VA Western New York Healthcare System volunteered at the 20th annual United Way Day of Caring on August 15.

United Way Day of Caring is one of the area’s largest community service events, mobilizing thousands of volunteers to complete hands-on community service projects in Erie and Niagara Counties.

VA employees hosted a carnival for children six months to pre-K at St. Timothy’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Day Care on Grand Island.  Activities provided at the carnival were face painting, cookie decorating, basketball and bowling.

“The best part of this experience was being able to help in the community,” said Sharon Shelton, member of the Volunteer Services Staff.
