Plates were filled with beef tips over egg noodles, mashed potatoes, fire-roasted vegetables, while music, family and friends filled the Recreation Hall at the Batavia site of VA Western New York Healthcare System. The Annual Dinner Dance, a Recreation Therapy activity, was held Wednesday evening for Veterans who reside in the Community Living Center Lodges, and has been taking place for the last 12 years.

Veterans enjoyed a full evening of delicious food, music, dancing and best of all - good company! VA departments worked together to organize this special event with a meal catered by local restaurant, D&R Depot. Live music provided by Kelly’s Old Timers and good company provided by Alexander High School Girls Soccer Team added to the festivities. The team has been volunteering for the last few years, making a positive impact, transporting Veterans to and from their Lodges, serving food and interacting with Veterans. “You know it was a great party when you see all of the smiles, dancing, and enjoyment of the music,” commented Paul Crews, Interim Health Care System Director who has recently joined the VA Western New York Healthcare System leadership team. Students took the time to talk with and dance with Veterans. To top off the evening, was the annual crowning of the king and queen of the dinner dance.
