New My HealtheVet Features

My HealtheVet: 24/7 access to VA care.
Tuesday, March 5, 2013

For several good reasons, many people like to keep a copy of their medical records. Now a new service of My HealtheVet allows Veteran patients to download their VA medical record, including notes from appointments and hospital stays.

Using the Blue Button feature of My HealtheVet, you can now view, download and print VA medical records without coming in to a VA Release of Information office. You can review use these records any time to keep track of your health. If you choose to, you can share this information with family members and outside health care providers.

The new records include VA Progress Notes, also called doctor’s notes. Notes from 2013 appointments and hospital visits are online now. Older records are being added. You can also access EKG reports, vitals, and lab results.

To use this service, sign up for My HealtheVet at www.myhealth.va.gov. The next step is a one-time authentication of your account at a VA facility for your security. And while you’re at it, sign up for Secure Messaging which allows you to communicate with your VA health care team online for even more convenience. It’s just one more way we make sure your VA health information is available whenever, however, and wherever you need it.
