Helping Veterans to Activities They Enjoy
Irv M. Bartz began as a volunteer at the Batavia VA Medical Center in September of 1997, he has assisted many Veterans over the past 17 ½ years and is a dedicated, dependable volunteer who shows compassion and concern for the Veterans he continues to serve 3-4 times per week.
As a member of the Archdiocese for Military Services, St. Vincent dePaul Society, Irv begins each week on a Sunday, bringing Veterans down to weekly Catholic Mass. He also comes in Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to serve as an Escort Service volunteer assisting our Veterans to and from Physical Therapy, and other appointments throughout the morning. In addition, he can be see supporting the many medical center special events like picnics, Memorial Day and Veterans Day services, our annual Christmas Morning gift packing/visitation/distribution, as well as attending many off-station recreational trips into the community.
Irv is also a VA Voluntary Service (VAVS) Representative for his organization. He attends quarterly meetings, as well as raising awareness and financial support to our Batavia facility with projects like the “Loose Change” collection at Ascension Parish Church where proceeds facilitate an assortment of Veteran recreational activities and other needs throughout the year.
