What Is The Hospitality Suite?
The Hospitality Suite has been developed to provide short-term lodging for veterans and/or their guests. Lodging is provided on a first-come first-served basis, as the number of rooms is limited. The program was created to provide accommodations for such reasons as lengthy traveling distances, examinations, post-operative visits, inclement weather, approved participation in a research program, or medical treatments of short duration not requiring inpatient status.
Lodging for family members of inpatients is determined on a daily basis after all veterans are accommodated. Family members may be asked to check out if a room is needed for a veteran. Only one room per veteran is assigned.
What Is The Cost?
There is no charge to stay in the Hospitality Suite. However, donations to help support the Hospitality Suite are gratefully accepted.
Where Is It?
The Hospitality Suite is located on 6A of the main building at the Buffalo VA Medical Center. All individuals must first check in at the Admissions desk, which is located on the first floor E wing.
Accommodations
The goal of the Hospitality Suite is to make you as comfortable as possible during your stay with us. With the support of several veterans organizations, rooms have been supplied with televisions, telephones (with free local calls), and comfortable furnishings (bed, desk, chair, dresser). Double rooms have a private bathroom. Single rooms share two showers per wing. A lounge with a microwave oven and refrigerator is located in the Suite.
Meals
Veterans will be provided free meals during their stay in our Hospitality Suite through the Canteen or Food Court, or on Sunday through Nutrition Service. Guests must secure their own meals. There is a Food Court in the Medical Center, located in the basement, across from the passenger elevators. The Food Court is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Several nearby restaurants offer delivery service to the Medical Center.
Medications
Veterans must bring with them any medications that will be needed while staying in the Hospitality Suite
Smoke-Free
The Medical Center is a smoke free facility. No smoking is permitted inside the buildings or within 25 feet of the entrances. There is one smoking room in the Medical Center, located on the first floor, at the end of the C wing.
